Think about ways to improve life for pond animals and you could win a cash prize to improve your school’s grounds, plus a visit to the Natural History Museum for your entire class.

OPAL and National Geographic Kids magazine are looking for your most creative ideas as part of a competition to promote the upcoming water survey. There are lots of creatures to be found in ponds and lakes, from tiny pond skaters to huge frogs, but what could we do to make their lives better?

We'd like you to draw or make a model of your perfect pond. You could have a diving board for frogs, a litter-picking machine or maybe even a beauty parlour for snails to get their shells decorated.

The most imaginative and fun ideas will win £1,000 to improve your school grounds and a VIP trip for your class to the Natural History Museum in London. That includes a Museum goodie bag for everyone!

The deadline for the competition is 12 May 2010, so get those thinking caps on. Good luck!
