About Glasgow City of Science

Glasgow City of Science is a pioneering partnership that aims to ensure everybody in the city region benefits from world-class science and technology. As a facilitation organisation, they bring partners (now over 50 organisations) together, to make people’s lives healthier, longer and better by boosting new investment, jobs and skills within a buoyant, knowledge-based economy.

Part of their activity involves the promotion of ‘accessible’ science information and activities to inform, inspire and better
connect the wider public with science.

Glasgow City of Science and OPAL

Working out of Glasgow Science Centre, our Community Scientist will deliver engaging outdoor education opportunities for primary schools, community groups and young offenders across inner city Glasgow. Activities will primarily be delivered in school grounds, community projects or nearby parks and open spaces to inspire students and communities to explore their local green areas.

They will focus their efforts in schools and communities in economically deprived areas and will provide Continuing Professional Development opportunities for teachers, community group leaders and young offenders looking at topics such as wildlife identification, urban ecology and invasive species.
